Always fascinated by the workings of the human body, Dr. O’Keefe began her college years as a pre-med student, majoring in Physiology.  After graduating magna cum laude from UC Berkeley in 1980, she planned on going on to Grad school to complete a higher degree that would lead her to medical research, specifically involving the nervous system.

But first, came an extended trip throughout Europe.  During this trip, many fortuitous events led to a change in her plans, and set her on a new path toward the study of Chiropractic.  Through Chiropractic she realized her dream of studying the nervous system further, and helping others by having an immediate affect on their health through correction of their spinal imbalances.

Dr. O’Keefe graduated magna cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1987.  She chose this school because it is “The Fountainhead”, the first college of Chiropractic, which was founded by D.D. Palmer back in 1897.  It is where the Art and Science of Chiropractic truly began, where the adjustment of the joint “subluxation” was emphasized and mastered.

Her expertise comes from many years of experience working with patients, achieving results, and intuitively knowing what works for each individual patient.

Through these years and continuing education, her experience has also taught her the value of working to free up trigger points and myofascial restrictions in the muscles. This chronic tightness affecting the irritated joint must be released if you want the bone or spinal vertebrae to “hold” the adjustment.  If the muscles are balanced, the vertebra will want to naturally be aligned. Restoring balance to the joints and posture is a major key to long term pain relief.

Dr. O’Keefe employs various techniques to release the muscle’s involvement with every treatment.  Her appointments typically last at least 30 minutes.  Along with the adjustment, these release techniques also result in faster pain relief, reduced number of visits and long term proper correction.
